The Luchs Brothers were, as I heard it, Radio DJ's in Illinois. At any rate, they released this monster in 1978, trying to cash in on the "punk craze," as many Foghat type FM progressive DJ's abhorred it and considered it a threat when Joe Walsh was still considered "cutting edge". Anyhoo, this killer features a classic piece of downer-punk toonage, Kill Me, I'm Rotton, that can be heard on the "Back to Front Vol.3" LP. The flipside, Losing My Lunch Over You, despite the great title, is a Chipmunks-type ripoff Dr.Demento would refuse to play. Retread Records,1978. At least 1000 pressed, as this one turns up semi-regular. The Luchs returned in 1979 with a follow up We Are Farmers and Comedians Too but I never heard it, and people have told me not to bother; but the debut is a winner. Oh yeah...banned in Uganda, China, and Alabama." Did Mark and Brian (longtime FM DJ unfunnymen) ever do anything remotely as cool as this?
